National Service Scheme

The National Service Scheme (NSS) at Bharath College of Education is a government-sponsored public service program under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The NSS unit aims to instill the spirit of social responsibility, volunteerism, and nation-building among future educators. It provides a platform for B.Ed., and M.Ed., students to engage in meaningful community service while developing leadership and life skills.

Motto:

“Not Me, But You” This reflects the essence of democratic living and selfless service, encouraging students to place community needs above personal interests.

Objectives:

  • To foster a sense of social and civic responsibility in teacher trainees.
  • To engage students in community development, health awareness, and literacy programs.
  • To build competencies in leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving.
  • To create awareness about issues like health, hygiene, environment, and disaster management.
  • To promote national integration and cultural harmony through social work and outreach.

Key Activities:

  • Special Camps in rural and underserved areas focusing on health, education, sanitation, and awareness.
  • Awareness Rallies and Drives: Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, voter awareness, AIDS awareness, anti-drug campaigns.
  • Blood Donation and Health Camps in partnership with hospitals and NGOs.
  • Tree Plantation, Campus Cleanliness Drives, and Water Conservation Projects.
  • Workshops and Seminars on life skills, leadership, gender equality, and disaster preparedness.
